GERBILS – The gerbil has an average life span of three to five years. They can be kept together when introduced young. They are very active and require a cage with lots of activity spaces, for instance - wheels, hideouts, ladders, etc. They are clean and almost odorless.  Their diet consists of a vitamin fortified seed and grain pellet mixtures. Gerbils are chewers so a ceramic food dish is advised.

RABBITS – these quiet & sociable animals can make great pets. They can be sociable with people as well as other pets. They can be litter box trained like a cat. And can be very playful. Rabbits can live for 8 years or more. We have rabbits and all supplies from their balanced pellet diet & treats to their cage, litter, nail clippers and more!

CHINCHILLAS – A Chinchilla is a cute, lovable pet.  Its soft fur makes it especially appealing. Chinchillas eat a vitamin fortified pellet food and hay. They do love treats such as raisins but can become spoiled easily. They take a dust bath at least every other day.   Chinchilla dust is available at our store.  We also have a see-through chinchilla bath house that makes it fun to watch.  Your Chinchilla spins around and around when 'bathing.' Chinchillas are social animals and love to be part of family activities. They will perch on their cages to watch what you're doing.

MICE & RATS – Yes, rats are very good pets. They are affectionate and smart. They do require a very secure cage and lots of exercise. A wheel and climbing spots are a must.  Their diet should be varied but rats blocks should be 80% of their diet.  Mice can be kept together, but be aware that they breed easily. It is important to change litter at least once a week depending on the size of the cage. Mouse food is a vitamin fortified seed and grain pellet mixture. They do need places to crawl into and on. They are very active small animals.

GUINEA PIGS – These docile and friendly animals make good first pets. They are easy to care for, do not require great space and rarely bite. They get very used to being handled & cuddled. They can be very vocal & entertaining with their sqeales, chatters and chirps. They do require special diet with added vitamin C, which we do carry and can inform you all about. We have all you need to keep your guinea pig as a pet. They live about 5 years.

HAMSTERS – Probably the most common small animal pet because they are friendly and active.  Average life span is 3 years. Hamsters tend to urinate in one corner.  They are chewers – so blocks should be provided. They eat a vitamin fortified grain pellet mixture.

We do not recommend cedar litter for any small animals.  We have many litters available that are better suited for small animals and are better for odor control.  A few examples are: CAREFRESH – CELLSORB – CRITTER COUNTRY

Our small animal food of choice is SUN SEED brand. Their diets are vitamin-fortified and are available in many different sizes. We have toys, wheels, tunnels, harness, leashes and all the other supplies for your pet.  We would be glad to advise you on your choices for appropriate cages and supplies with your small animal purchase.
